Lavun, is a local government area (LGA) in Niger State, Nigeria. It is located in the central part of the state and shares borders with other LGAs such as Edati, Mokwa, Bida, Lapai, Agaie, and Gurara. Lavun LGA is predominantly rural, with headquarter located in kutigi and is known for its agricultural activities, cultural heritage, and natural beauty.

THERE ARE TWENTY NINE (29) COMMUNITIES IN JIMA WARD. THE PEOPLE OF JIMA WARD ARE PREDOMINANTLY FARMERS AND SMALL SCALE BUSINESSES AND ARE SKILLFUL. THE WARD LACKS COMPLETE ACCESS TO BASIC SOCIAL AMENITIES/SERVICES. THE PEOPLE ARE UNITED, PEACE LOVING AND CARING. GOVERNMENT AT ALL LEVELS ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE HUMAN, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AS WELL AS WELL-BEING OF THE WARD. THE WARD IS GROSSLY UNDER REPRESENTED IN ALL RAMIFICATIONS. BOTH SOCIALLY AND POLITICALLY.
Dassun ward is located along kutigi, lavun local government area of niger state. It is located latitude by the North and longitude by the east of lavun. Dassun ward is a ward that shares the common boundary with kutigi to the South, lagun to the North and dabban and batati ward to the east respectively. In lavun dassun ward is one of the strongest units, it's comprises of 22 villages with 15 polling units among which includes RUGGA, DASSUN, JIPAN GBATAMANGI, YETI, CHARATI,YAKUDI, DAKPANCHI , KUPE, AND DABBAGI among other. Lagun a sister ward which was created out of dassun ward in 1999.
